Yes, ya’ll read that correct – Reno has a Pine State Biscuits! Located at 200 S. Center Street RENO. Can I get an Amen?! If you have not been to this breakfast joint, GO. As in right now. Run, don’t walk. This has to be the best breakfast I’ve had in a long while. I was a little unsure of it at first as I didn’t think I would like it. I’m not one to love a heavy breakfast and I tend to prefer raw kale and veg options to biscuits, gravy, and fried chicken. For the sake of food review I always try to eat outside my general likes and go big for you all at home. And thats just what I did. I opted for the Reggie Delux breakfast sandwich with BOTH the mushroom AND sausage gravy. As soon as I ordered I was nervous of this rich meal. Here it is folks in all its glory:
It was certainly a meal to marvel at. Fried chicken, gravy, bacon, egg, AND CHEESE!!!! Lots of creamy delicious cheese. I prepared my belly for what was about to happen and took my first bite….. I don’t even have a single piece of constructive criticism. I was expecting heavy, greasy, weigh you down all day breakfast. This was nothing of the sort. The chicken was crispy but not greasy, the gravy was creamy but not overly rich, and the cheese…. sweet baby Jesus the cheese…. my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Hands down my new favorite breakfast. I didn’t even miss the veg. I will say it is a big meal and I likely would have been more than satisfied with splitting this and my order of a sweet biscuit with my friend. I didn’t get that yucky “weighed down” feeling that lingers all day, but I was certainly FULL. I was able to attend and participate in a yoga teacher training afterward, and although full, I did my fair share of forward folds and survived. My sweet biscuit was just as lovely with marionberry jam, butter, and honey.
And Dustin’s plate full of traditional biscuits and gravy was also well received!
Plates of the fluffiest, beautifully buttered, golden brown pancakes were being delivered to other tables, and I’d have to say those look worth coming back to try. The place has a fun vibe with a pre-order, then find a seat, and buss your own table set up.
It also sports counter seating where you can watch the kitchen opterate.
I’ve already called my parents and best friend to tell them about this place, it’s that yummy! All in all, I paid about 19 bucks (with tip) for the sandwich, sweet biscuit, and a coffee (keep in mind that could be enough for two) – with great prices and even better food Ill be back for sure.
Not a biscuits and gravy person? No fear, see the menu for other options:
