Ya’ll its been a little while! But dont you fret, I’ve been keeping up with my grubb’in and review’in. This review is out of my norm, as it’s off the beaten path. Which made me love it even more (a little secret gem). Sporting an interesting name, which came from a bet and a beard, Chop 40 is worth the short drive out to Verdi!
You know a place is hip when a teenage boy chooses to celebrate his 18th birthday party there. Or perhaps my friend Jace is just wiser beyond his years. Either way A whole host of Jace’s pals and family came together to eat, drink, and be merry in honor of his bday. Chop 40 hosts an out door canvass tent complete with a wood burning stove and a stunning rustic table. To know Jace is to know his love of the out doors and all things sportsman, this setting was so him!
The food was amazing as were the drinks! If you like pecan punches Chop 40 has you covered. The grub is served up on cast iron skillets (super fitting for the rustic joint) and they have something for everyone. Seriously, just take a look at this 5 page menu! The service was outstanding. With only one waitress on staff that night, she never missed a beat with our massive group. Her kids stepped up to help as well and they were the sweetest little helpers.
We ordered so much food I couldn’t keep track of it all. For starters we got the wings and chicharrones. I was unsure about the chicharrones as I dont care for pork rinds but these were so good! And the sauce they served with them is amaze. I really wanted to order just sauce so I could take it home and use on everything, but I spared Jace the embarrassment. Most us ordered from thier sandwich/burger menu. I got the Cuban with a side of mac and cheese. YUP a side of mac, any place that offers mac as a side is worthy in my book.
This joint would be awesome for a work party or a girls night out, where you trade in the heels for jeans and a ball cap! It’s an easy go’in, great cook’in, back yard feel kind of place. If you are looking for something new to try or just something out of the ordinary head over to Chop 40, and let them know The Chubby Yogi sent you!
