Oh the beauty industry! There is a cream, serum, and plumper for everything these days. From dry flaky skin to aging dull skin AND oily skin, there is some magical something out there that can fix all the things for us. Recently I’ve had a few friends comment on my complexion and ask what I use. They are shocked when I reply “uh not much”! So I thought I’d share my very minimal beauty regimen, the few tools I invested in, AND some of the crazy things I do!
Firstly (and don’t stop reading after this), I don’t wear make up every day. Like for reals. Most days I don’t put anything on my face. BUT, I do believe in good skin, lashes, and brows. I have clear transparent eyebrow so I pay to get them waxed and dyed every few months, and the same goes for my lashes. I was getting lash extensions for about a year. I currently don’t have them but I think they are worth EVERY PENNY. With just my brows dyed and a swipe of mascara I head out every day. The no make up choice is two fold. One – makeup is expensive. Like stupid expensive. And I wear a face mask most of the day so it all comes off and is wasted! So why toss money down the trash every day? The second is that makeup clogs poors and can damage skin. And like I said, it all starts with the skin. Don’t get me wrong, I love makeup and I love getting dolled up, but I dont feel it necessary for the day to day stuff. I prefer less wrinkles and break outs, soooo, I only wear full make up on occasion.
So! Knowing that I sport naked skin on my face every day, maybe the rest of my beauty regimen will make sense. I invested in a Mia 2 by Clarisonic. It’s worth the money. I have large poors that dirt and gunk clog up. Just washing my face with wash and my hands doesn’t do the trick and my pores are left looking like speckled pepper all over my nose and cheeks. The Clarisonic seriously gets the dirt out! It also gently exfoliates and massages leaving my skin with a little glow! You HAVE to replace the heads religiously though as they can start to harbor bacteria and could make your skin worse. So know this is an investment tool and you will spend about $120 a year in head replacements. For washing I use either Burt’s Bees cream cleaner or (and my personal all time fav) First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser. The FAB line was made for people with rosacea and eczema. It’s lightweight and made for even the most sensitive skin. It’s amazing. I like the Burt’s Bees too (the smell is better) but it doesn’t lather as well.
Next, to keep that glow I SHAVE my FACE. Yes read it again…. I shave my face! A friend suggested I try this and for years I told her HECK NO! Shave my face? What? Have you lost your mind? I’ll grow a beard, you weirdo! Turns out this friend was right and shaving your face is the best kept secret EVER. I use the single blade Tinkles brand wand razors. I’ll link the Michelle Money YouTube for you to watch. It’s easy, quick, and removes dead skin, peach fuzz, and dullness. The peach fuzz mattes your face and when you wear makeup you can totes see it! Removing it allows the light to reflect off your face and WHAWLA! Glowy dewy skin!
To moisturize the only product I use and will ever use is First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. It’s amazing. A jar lasts me about 6 months and it is the best face cream ever. Seriously go get some right now! In the dry winter months I add rose oil at night with the cream for a little extra moisture.
I do a face mask once a week, usually on Sundays. I try a lot of masks, I think they are so fun (I feel like I’m at a spa) and I really believe they work. Right now I’m using the Boscia Luminating Black Mask. It’s really thick and takes a while to fully harden, but when it does it peels off in sheets. Taking all your unwanted face gunk with it! I’m also a HUGE fan of the GlamGlow masks. They are quite pricey though and a little outta the budget right now!
Lastly, on my body I prefer the lotion bar I make. The secret ingredient is 1/2 processed bees wax from the local apiary Naked Hive Naturals. This 1/2 processed wax leaves a lot of honey behind in the wax. Honey has amazing antibacterial properties which is great for acne, full of antioxidants that are great for keeping our skin looking youthful, and honey is SUPER moisturizing.
And that’s it y’all! Keep my skin clean, clear, shaved, and moisturized. Get the brows waxed and dyed and swipe on the mascara. That’s my daily minimal routine! I love my Sunday face masks and if you have any suggestions I’d love to hear them! Until next time I hope you keep Grubb’in, Chubb’in, and Namaste’in!
